Jesus is very clear about that. It was never God's intention when He created hell that human beings should ever be in it.<br /><br />In the last analysis, hell is seperation from God, and what seperates us from God isn't God, but our sins. Jesus saves us from our sins so that nobody ever need be seperated from God. So even if you think Jesus isn't out to get you, one still has to wrestle with the idea that God might be. It's like Jesus is saving us from God.
